School Care and Hostels
We know that as you place your children in our care, our responsibility is to act as their ‘mothers and fathers’ while they are with us. One of the aspects particularly commented upon by parents is the care we take of their children.
Two spacious hostels are home to weekly and termly boarders, where they are cared for by houseparents, creating a secure and caring family-like environment. There is a clinic on site with nurses to attend to their health. For emergencies, there is also an excellent clinic ‘Tusekelemo’ in Mkushi, the nearest town. In such cases you would always be notified.
The children are encouraged to be self-disciplined and to this end the school rules are based on those of safety and respect for the community. Such rules are displayed and discussed with pupils. Where punishment of any sort continues to be necessary, it is appropriate to the individual pupil to whom it is given and to the offence for which it is given. If an incident is considered to be of a serious nature, parents are notified of it and of the appropriate punishment that might have taken place.
Termly boarders are cared for at weekends by hostel parents and teaching staff. They are given a range of activities as well as time for them just to relax.
