Sixth Form

Chengelo Sixth Form was opened in 2000 and builds on the strong Christian ethos of the Secondary School. From its small beginnings it is now a thriving part of Chengelo with the Sixth Form students playing a leading role in every aspect of school life. We aim to ensure that as many students as possible gain entry into the world's top universities. Our experience has shown that the best universities are looking for applicants who have the highest academic qualifications combined with a rounded education.
AS / A-Levels
We believe that A-levels are the best preparation for entry into University degree programmes and Higher Education courses.
Whilst all universities recognise IGCSE, most have entry criteria which require qualifications at a higher level. For this reason Chengelo offers a 1 year AS-Level or 2 year A-Level programme to equip students with the skills needed to study at the highest level; the ability to cope with rigorous academic demands, undertake independent research, competence in IT & study skills and a framework to analyse ideas critically from a Christian perspective. Students intending to apply to American universities can sit and prepare for SAT exams here.
Students in Chengelo are entered for the University of Cambridge International Examinations. We currently offer the following subjects:

|
In 2007 our A-level pass rate was over 90%, with 68% of these being in the A-C range; significantly higher than the world average.
More than just an Academic Programme
At Chengelo we concentrate on far more than just academics; a core focus is developing maturity and depth of character. Students have the opportunity to gain the prestigious International Youth Award at Gold level, play a variety of sports and take part in the outdoor programme at ‘Ndubaluba’, Chengelo’s own outdoor centre. We also have a programme of leadership training and many of the Sixth Form students become Prefects giving them the opportunity to put into practice the skills they have learned.
The 'feel' of the Sixth Form is substantially different to that of the secondary school. Students work in smaller groups with dedicated, experienced and highly qualified teaching staff, and are assigned a Tutor who will care for pastoral needs. Individual careers guidance is available and the opportunity to go on industrial tours to ensure that students make informed choices and achieve their potential.

Excellent Facilities
In the Sixth Form students enjoy spacious, purpose built accommodation & facilities, including the 'university style' single study bedrooms. The Sixth Form centre has classrooms for lessons and private study in the evenings, a computer area with access to email and the internet and a common room which has facilities for socialising and recreation.
Destinations for Chengelo Students
Students who graduate from Chengelo Sixth Form are equipped to continue their studies anywhere in the world. A recent review of graduates from 2004, 2005 & 2006 showed that their destinations were as follows:
